Frequently Asked Questions

How can I open an account?

Opening an account with Damon Vickers and Company is a fairly smooth process. Whether it is your individual, joint, trust, partnership or your IRA or SEP, we can handle it and would be honored to do so. In addition, if you have just changed jobs, we handle 401(k) rollovers. Our team can handle all the paperwork and make getting on top of your retirement accounts as easy as possible. Call (206) 727-9999, ask for the New Accounts Department, and they’ll be glad to help you.

What’s the minimum investment to open an account with Damon Vickers and Company?

If you have investable assets combined in excess of $250,000, we would love to talk with you.  While we would love to be able to serve all investors, we feel that $250,000 is a good level that matches most of our customer’s cumulative portfolio levels.

How much does it cost to have my money managed at Damon Vickers and Company?

At Damon Vickers and Company, our goal is to effect trades on behalf of our clients in an active manner as to seek to minimize losses and maximize gains. We are not passive. Passive asset managers fee your account and do little for it. Our goal is to actively position you long, i.e. owning the market in up-trends, and try to actively position your assets to benefit from downtrends. If we do something in your account, you will pay us. If we do not, you will not.  Passive asset managers charge and do nothing. We believe our service is superior, and you may be pleased over time.

We operate on the following commission-based compensation system:

Accounts Under $1,000,000: 2% of traded assets per trade.
Accounts 1 Million or Greater: 1% of traded assets per trade.
Accounts 5 Million or Greater: .75% of traded assets per trade.

How often do you trade?

Our goal is to try and find the very, very best ideas possible. Sometimes, the market is full of great ideas. During periods like these, we want to do everything possible to take advantage of the bounty that the market offers us.

Other times, no matter how hard we try to find ideas, they don’t exist. We are comfortable at times like these sitting on cash, knowing that inevitably the market will come to us. In short, if we have ideas, we’re going to trade them. If not, we’re comfortable waiting until they do.

Where can I see your performance?

Every individual’s account will have different performance over time. One client may invest at a market’s peak; and another at a market’s bottom. Short term, individual customer performance will vary. Long term, we believe our adaptive approach has helped investors avoid bear markets and capitalize on some of the best opportunities the market has presented over the last 25 years.

An investor is encouraged to take the long view when considering a relationship with us.
